About: I invested in Mr. Stacky vertical gardens during Autumn 2024 after seeing a friends set-up of 3 x Smart Farm Hydroponic Tower Gardens. I was blown away by her proud referral and saw first-hand the lush leafy greens she enjoyed growing.
Like-living as my friend with a neurological condition, I deal with unpredictable symptoms and often rely on a wealth of adaptive gardening tools, mobility aids (ambient wheelchair user) to help grow my independence, and access my backyard.
I’m in awe of the ease of the Mr. Stacky tower system to grow my kitchen garden produce. It has become my go-to gardening alternative to garden-bed dig gardening. Without a doubt, there’s less stress & mess, it is user-friendly, accessible and far less challenging on the body.
As an avid garden hobbyist, urban homesteader & therapeutic horticulture student, the Mr. Stacky tower system helps me to focus more on what I can do successfully in the garden, versus what I now can’t do &/or find particularly challenging.
My husband is my primary carer and he collected & erected the system, helped me to troubleshoot the initial set-up and continues the regular feeding maintenance. I particularly love growing & eating cut and come again lettuces, plus lots of healthy leafy greens such as kale, bok choy & spinach.
Together, we are enjoying early success with broccolini, cauliflower and radish. Tasks such as seed germination, planting seedlings, nurturing, harvesting, cooking & preserving our own homegrown vegies is not a chore to us, but creativity, fun & fulfilment.
A few very welcome & beneficial tips received from Mr. Stacky at the commencement of our endeavours was to grow 3 x seedlings per section and ensure tall crops such as tomatoes were grown at the back of the towers, preferably with a trellis behind. We cannot fault that advice!
We found adding some unique all-weather Plant ID Tags to the tower system has proven functionally beneficial in helping with quick identification and further adds to the well-organised aesthetic. A few well positioned nets have also aided in keeping some of the wildlife at bay.
